China gets 2nd tallest building in the world
Now world's second tallest structure with a height of 630 metre is going to come up in China's Shanghai city. Construction on the skyscraper, Shanghai Tower was completed on August 3. Media reports say that the building replaces Taiwan's 509 metre tall Taipei 101 building as the highest tower in Asia. Shanghai Tower is second only to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at 830 meters.
Construction of the building is estimated at $14.8 billion yuan and it is designed by Gensler, a US firm.
Meanwhile, another China company, Broad Group has announced plans to build an 838 metre tower in the heart of Changsha, a central Chinese city. Construction on the structure will be completed in in April.
