Minister calls for timely preparation of DPRs
Jammu and Kashmir Minister for roads and bridges (R&B) Abdul Majid Wani asked various state level departments to prepare and submit well in time the detailed project reports (DPRs) of the projects to be taken up during 2013-14.
This would facilitate the state government in arranging funds and ensure that work on these projects gets started at an earliest. He said timely completion of all projects has been made benchmark of assessing the performance of each department.
He said this after reviewing the performance of R&B sector in Kashmir Province. He said during 2012-13, as many as 42 bridges and culverts have been completed. Wani reiterated government commitment on bringing visible improvement in the road connectivity network in rural and urban areas.
The minister said that besides focus on major road networks the department of R&B should give added attention on improving the quality of rural urban link roads.
He called upon the executing agencies to complete the taken up projects within the stipulated time frame. To improve the efficiency of the department, the minister reiterated that introduction of performance based promotions will be considered in future.
