Work on Delhi's flyover launched 15 years ago, still incomplete

In Delhi, local people have launched a protest condemning the undue delay of 15 years in executing the Rani Jhansi Flyover Grade Separator. Not even a half of the flyover project is completed yet. The flyover idea was mooted in 1998, but construction began only in November 2008.

The deadline for the flyover project completion was 2010, before the Commonwealth Games.

In the vicinity of Delhi North Corporation, the 1.8-km long flyover has got completed only 38 per cent of work. The project is intended to cover Rani Jhansi Road, Bara Hindu Rao, DCM Chowk, Azad Market and Baraf Khana Chowk to reach St Stephen's Hospital.

Land acquisition is said to be the prime reason for the delay in the completion of the flyover.
