Clearing the way

Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar is a man on a mission to unclog the infra pipeline - in just 100 days, he has cleared 240 out of 325 projects mired in delay. The Government estimates that the hastening of approvals could spur investment worth Rs 200,000 crore and help revive the economy. Javadekar´s clearances are expected to bring in fresh investment and boost infrastructure sectors such as roads, power plants and oil exploration. Another big-ticket project cleared is the 3,000-MW Dibang Project in Arunachal Pradesh, which is expected to be the largest dam in Indian history. In addition, he has approved some major private-sector projects such as increase in Cairn Energy´s oil production capacity by 50 per cent in Rajasthan. Way to go.
