After carving a niche in the roads, irrigation and industrial sectors, Gayatri Projects has added a new feather to its cap by foraying into the fast-growing railway EPC sector. The company, led by TV Sandeep Kumar Reddy, Managing Director, has won a Rs 4,744 crore contract to design and build the Iqbalgarh-Vadodara section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFCC). The project includes design and construction of civil, building and track works for double line railway involving formation in embankments or cuttings, bridges, structures along with works related to bridges across rivers of Mahi and Sabarmati. The contract, won in consortium with Japan´s Sojitz Corp and L&T, is one of the country´s most ambitious infrastructure projects that promise to transform the business landscape of India. It will not only play a key role in realising India´s manufacturing and industrial aspirations, but also prove to be one of the largest EPC opportunities in the country.
