In August 2015, Shapoorji Pallonji completed 150 years of its survival, a milestone in the long journey. Shapoor Mistry, Chairman, Shapoorji Pallonji, is the genius spearheading the infrastructure conglomerate that started out as a partnership firm in 1865. The company then ventured into construction and engineering, infrastructure, real estate, water, oil and gas, among others. On speaking about the 150-year brand, Mistry reportedly said that he used the past to build the future and is ready to take on new opportunities. The company, under Mistry´s guidance, has remained at the forefront in many areas, especially construction. It also recently partnered with Standard Chartered Pvt Equity, IFC, and the Asian Development Bank, to form a JV focusing on developing affordable housing projects in India, with a capital commitment of $200 million, one of the largest capital inflows in the affordable housing space in India. Little surprise then that the company is moving ahead; they are innovators. Undoubtedly, Mistry is ´Built to Last´, as is the motto of the company.
