NTPC South plans 16,000 MW

NTPC southern region is poised to add 2,000 MW by next fiscal. This includes two units of 500 MW each at Simhadri power station near Visakhapatnam and 1,000 MW at Vallur in Tamil Nadu. NTPC expects to close the current plan period with total generation capacity of 7,950 MW. For the XII Plan, NTPC has planned on additional capacity of 7,350 MW to 8,350 MW, which will take its total installed capacity in the region to about 16,000 MW.
