Power generation in JK hydel projects fall

Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a fall of over 50 per cent in power generation from its hydel power projects at the onset of winter this year. There is a huge gap of 1,000 MW between demand and supply of electricity and power generation. There is a demand of 2400 MW, while the state is getting only 1,500 MW from various sources. This has triggered power crises in the state. The total power generation of the hydel power projects in Jammu and Kashmir is around 2340 MW, but the generation has fallen down to just 1130 MW at present.
