THDC to begin work on final phases of Tehri project

THDC India (THDCIL) plans to begin work on the third and final phase of the 2,400 MW Tehri multipurpose hydel project, which involves a dam through pumped storage plant scheme to generate 1,000 MW of power. For this purpose, THDCIL has signed an agreement of Rs 1,842 crore with a consortium of power majors like Alstom Hydro France, Alstom Project India and HCC for engineering procurement and construction (EPC) or turnkey execution of Tehri pumped storage plant (4x250 MW).
