GVK’s Australian coal project gets govt nod

Government of Australia has cleared the A$ 10 bn coal project of GVK Power and Infrastructure for the construction of a new export terminal in Queensland state. The project has a mine life of over 30 years and would produce 32 mn tonne a year. It is one of five major coal projects in the basin aiming to produce more than 180 mn tonne by the end of the decade, doubling Australia’s thermal coal exports.
