MRPL may stop sourcing oil from Iran

Following government pressure and sanctions on importing crude oil from Iran, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL) plans to stop sourcing the fuel from the gulf country. Iran's threat to shut the Strait of Hormuz from where ships carrying crude oil pass has also prompted MRPL to source oil from some other countries.MRPL has been forced to restrict its lifting from Iran to a fifth of the planned 3.3 mn barrels per day (bpd) in July.
