Violation of green norms delay state projects

Industrial projects in Orissa were delayed because of non-compliance of the procedures of the Environmental Impact Assessment Notification 2006 and Circulars of the Ministry. Some of the projects got delayed because of inadequate information on critical environmental parameters, and deficiencies in the Environmental Management Plans by the project proponents.The projects that now face delays are the sponge iron plant, integrated steel plant, Chhuinpalli quartzite mining project, and Nuagaon iron ore beneficiation plant. In the port sector,  the development of the All Weather deepwater port and Southern dock complex for the construction of a multi-purpose clear cargo and oil terminal at Paradip port are stranded.Contact: Orissa State Pollution Control Board.
