Ministry of State for Civil Aviation has plans to construct 17 new airports during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan. Out of this, four airports are coming up at Gulbarga, Bijapur, Hassan and Shimoga in Karnataka, two at Aranmula and Kannur in Kerala.
