Odisha Chief Minister pushes for Railway project

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has asked the East Coast Railway (ECoR) to expedite Rajsunakhala-Bolagarh section of the Khurda-Balangir rail project. Expressing his displeasure over the slow pace of implementation of the rail link, he emphasised on extending the project till Nayagarh by March 2017. The project has been delayed by more than two decades. Of the total 289 km project, construction work in 41.5 km has been completed up to Rajsunakhala from Khurda. Though the work from Rajsunakhala to Bolagarh was scheduled to be completed by June 2016, it has remained incomplete. Construction work is also going on from Daspalla to Balangir. The project is being implemented on a cost-sharing basis.
