PIB to clear Chennai airport expansion project cost
The Airports Authority of India has asked the Public Investment Board (PIB) to clear the Rs 210 crore cost over-run of the Chennai airport expansion project. The Rs 1,800 crore project, scheduled to complete by September 2011, is likely to be delayed by a few months.
The delay is more on the runway expansion part of the project. However, passengers will also be affected because work on some elements, such as the multi-level car parking and the 'travellator' that links the international and domestic terminals, has not even begun as yet.
