Palomar’s Architecture & Interior Design Programs Move to South Campus

Hundreds of Architecture and Interior Design students will gather for the first time on January 31, 2022, when Palomar College's Rancho Bernardo Education Center opens for the Spring semester.

The relocation, which occurred in December 2021, increased the shared space between the two programmes from one classroom on the San Marcos campus to three rooms in Rancho Bernardo.

At the same time, the transfer is beneficial to the programmes since it brings them closer to the Miramar Design District, which has more than 300 interior design showrooms and retail businesses, as well as a range of industry resources in downtown San Diego.

"The Rancho Bernardo Center at Palomar is also a LEED Silver-certified facility, with a cutting-edge design that meets or surpasses current construction regulations," Lucido continued. "As a result, the Rancho Bernardo building will become a part of the learning environment—an interactive tool for familiarising students with design and building code terminology."

The transition, which was planned and implemented during the Fall 2021 semester, will effect roughly 12 faculty members and 350 students who are enrolled in both programmes' face-to-face courses. According to Newman, the new site opens up a slew of options, including an annual portfolio display that allows Architecture and Interior Design students to network with possible employers. Newman added, "We're incredibly pleased about this transfer and what it signifies for the future of these two programmes." "Our children will be delighted to study and happy to present their work in the Rancho Bernardo Center."
