NMDC iron ore production surges 28% to 33 mt in April-Jan

National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), a state-owned mineral producer, announced that in April-January 2021-22, its iron ore production reached over 28% to 32.88 million tonnes (mt).

During the same time last year, the firm's iron ore output was 25.66 mt.

The company revealed that its iron ore output increased to 4.56 mt from 3.86 mt a year ago. In the April-January period, its total sales grew over 25% to 32.60 mt from 26.01 mt a year ago.

In January 2022, the mineral producer sold 4.24 mt of iron ore compared to 3.74 mt in the last-ago month.

NMDC is India's largest iron ore producer and was established in 1958. The headquarters of the company is in Hyderabad, Telangana.

The company is under the executive authority of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. It is involved in the exploration of minerals such as iron ore, copper, limestone, etc.
