GAIL to sign MoU with NTPC

State-owned gas utility, GAIL India plans to foray into the power sector through a tie-up with NTPC. The two firms plan to build gas-based power plants in India and other countries. They are already partners in Ratnagiri Gas and Power (RGPPL), the firm that runs the Dabhol power plant in Maharasthra. GAIL and NTPC will cooperate in commissioning the 5 mn tonne a year LNG receipt and regassification terminal adjacent to the Dabhol power plant. Valid for a period of three years from the date of signing, the MoU can be extended further through mutual consent of both the companies.
