ABB India has inaugurated two new plants to manufacture power products. The facilities, at Savli, near Vadodara, were set up at an investment of Rs 250 crore and will manufacture high-voltage switchgear and distribution transformers. Vadodara has the largest ABB base and facilities in India, spread over 150 acre. Seventy-five per cent of ABB´s portfolio in India is locally manufactured and the company is the top supplier of inverters to the solar energy market. The high-voltage unit will produce gas-insulated switchgear and a plug-and-switch system hybrid switchgear to serve the growing demand in India.
