The Trichy corporation has plans to generate both electricity and cooking gas from the garbage generated in the city. The scheme will be implemented in Srirangam constituency represented by the state government. A bio-digester plant will be built near Amma Unavagam in Srirangam at an outlay of Rs 90 lakh. The objective of the scheme is to generate electricity without causing pollution. Organic waste collected from all the 65 wards of the corporation will be utilised for power and gas generation.
