Mahagenco plans 3,000 MW power plant in Gondia

Mahagenco is planning another mega power plant of 3,000 MW in the Gondia district in Maharashtra. In the first phase, 2,000 MW capacity will be created and the remaining 1,000 MW will be built in the second phase. Gondia has been chosen because of its proximity to Chhattisgarh, where Mahagenco has been allocated the Gare Pelma II coal mine. The district is the nearest in Maharashtra to Chhattisgarh, which has direct railway connectivity with the neighbouring state.
