The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has sent directives to all power-generating companies, power project developers and power equipment manufacturers stating that henceforth boilers including auxiliaries, will be designed for a 30:70 blend ratio, in which 30 per cent will be imported/high gross calorific value (GCV) coal, while 70 per cent will be indigenous coal.
Also, station facilities will be designed for unloading, handling and blending imported/high GCV coal. Moreover, the power ministry proposed capacity addition of 75,000 MW during the Twelfth Five Year Plan.
