DVC Inaugurates Eight MW Solar Plant At Panchet

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) inaugurated an eight megawatt (MW) ground-mounted solar photovoltaic plant at Panchet. The facility was dedicated on August 31, 2026, by Rajesh Pandey, IAS, the chairman of the corporation. The commissioning marks a milestone in the utility's renewable energy expansion and clean energy transition. The installation uses utility scale arrays and standard grid interconnection equipment to deliver generation into the local network.

The project adds renewable generation capacity to DVC's portfolio and reflects the organisation's focus on increasing clean energy deployment across its network. It is expected to contribute to cleaner power generation and support sustainable development objectives in the region. The plant's ground-mounted design and photovoltaic technology are intended to provide dependable output to local distribution points. Project execution followed standard procurement and commissioning protocols and involved coordination with local grid authorities.

The Panchet installation aligns with the broader national push to expand renewable energy capacity and to accelerate India's transition towards a greener power sector. Such projects are designed to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and to support grid stability during peak solar hours. The eight MW capacity will be integrated into existing operations under the corporation's generation and transmission framework. Generation from the plant will be scheduled in line with demand patterns and operational priorities to optimise output.

DVC has signalled an ongoing commitment to diversify its energy mix by pursuing additional renewable projects and modernising infrastructure. The Panchet plant is one element of a phased approach to increase sustainable capacity while meeting rising demand. Continued deployment of similar facilities is expected to strengthen energy security and to advance long term environmental objectives. The corporation indicated that similar initiatives will follow a measured rollout guided by regulatory frameworks and technical assessments.
