Southern Railway Plans High-Speed Trial on Coimbatore–Jolarpettai Line
Southern Railway is set to conduct a high-speed trial run between Coimbatore and Jolarpettai to test operations at 110 km/h along the 286-km corridor. The speed is expected to be raised to 130 km/h by March 2026 after ongoing track upgrades are completed. The enhancement works include reinforced bridges, curve corrections, barricades to prevent trespassing, improved signalling and upgraded overhead equipment.
