Hinduja group flagship Ashok Leyland will invest Rs.10 billion in Uttar Pradesh to set up a bus manufacturing facility focused on clean mobility. The company's mission to achieve net zero by 2048 is one of the triggers to set up the plant in Uttar Pradesh. Upon commencement of operations, the manufacturing facility will initially produce 2,500 buses a year. The company intends to expand this to accommodate up to 5,000 vehicles per year. In a related development, the state will soon introduce 1,850 electric buses in 19 cities to reduce traffic congestion on the roads.
