The Majerhat station is fast emerging as one of the better designed Metro stations in the city. Implementing agency Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) is eyeing a date to launch the two km Taratala-Majerhat line and extend the now operational 6.5 km Joka-Taratala Metro. The Majerhat Metro station is an engineering marvel as it is being constructed above a railway yard with three levels of train tracks. The Joka-Esplanade corridor is high on RVNL's priority list. After commissioning the 6.5 km Joka-Taratala section with six stations, the agency fast-tracked construction of Majerhat Metro station.
