A 20-km stretch of the Mumbai-Agra highway outside the city limits would soon be concreted as the patch witnesses frequent potholes during monsoon and traffic congestion. The Mumbai-Agra highway is crucial for people of North Maharashtra to travel to Mumbai. At present, it takes six to seven hours to reach the state capital. A stretch of the highway from Gonde to Pimpalgaon was a six-lane road, while from Gonde to Vadpe towards the Mumbai side was a four-lane stretch, leading to severe bottle-necks. As per details, development work on the stretch aims to construct underpasses or flyovers at spots prone to traffic snarls. The road will now also have eight lanes.
