The ambitious Gokhale Bridge reconstruction project in the Andheri area achieved a significant breakthrough with successful installation of the first girder weighing approximately 1200 MT. The development sets the stage for reopening of one lane on the bridge by 15 February 2024. It may be one of the fastest-executed bridge works by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Despite being shut to motorists in 2022, BMC intends to open one lane for traffic within 15 months. During the final launch, the entire steel structure was slid towards the tracks and aligned on the erected piers.
