Himalayan road to cut costs for countries

Media reports say that India and China should consider stepping up bilateral trade through Nathu La, the mountainous pass in the Himalayas and the road connecting India's northeast with Myanmar to reduce transportation cost. Through the mountain road, the entire region can prosper. The media reports referred to the recent year road projects near border regions by both China and India and have also made plans to build railways. Mutual suspicion will increase if the highways and railways cannot be connected between the two countries. But if the two can be connected, the entire region can prosper, Global Times in China said. A Border Defence Cooperation Agreement (BDCA) between India and China has been signed during Prime Minister Mannmohan Singh's visit to China last month. It marked an important step towards addressing the long-term distrust in bilateral ties.
