He said that the force is going to break its own two year old record of building the highest road at Umlong La Pass and now it will be surpassed in the next two working seasons with the Mig La-Fukche road coming up. He said that Umling La will be the highest motorable road in the world. BRO started a road connecting Likru, Mig-La and Phukche at 19,400 feet to help troop deployment at the earliest if any critical situation arises. BRO is ready to break its own record of the highest motorable road, he added. While speaking about the world's highest bilane tunnel Sela, he said that it is also ready and is expected to be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister. He added, Soon the Sela tunnel will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi. It will be the highest and longest bi-lane tunnel in the world. The BRO chief said the military road construction organisation will also be starting with the Shinku La tunnel connecting Manali through Zanskar to Leh which will be the highest and will break the record of the Mila tunnel situated in China. When asked about the Nyoma airfield which, when completed, will be one of the highest airfields in the world and is just 30 kilometres in aerial distance in Ladakh, he said an airfield capable of operating fighter aircraft would be ready by the end of next year.
