Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off indigenously designed and manufactured equipment recently to speed up the construction of a viaduct for the Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, which has been hampered by the coronavirus pandemic and land acquisition issues. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, has designed and manufactured the full span launching equipment, which includes a straddle carrier and girder transporter with a capacity of 1,100 mt. India, has now joined a select group of countries that have been designing and manufacturing such equipment, including Italy, Norway, Korea, and China.
