India's imports from Russia have surged to Rs.20.45 billion this fiscal year, doubling from the previous period. The boost is attributed to increased inflow of crude oil and fertilisers, turning Russia into India's secondlargest import source for the initial four months of the fiscal year. This shift is noteworthy, with Russia's share in India's oil imports escalating from under one per cent to over 40 per cent. Conversely, India's exports faced declines in merchandise exports to seven of the top 10 destinations, except the UK, Netherlands and Saudi Arabia.
