State commerce and transport minister Padmanabha Behera reviewed the progress of two port projects at Subarnarekha in Balasore district and Astaranga in Puri district and asked officials to resolve the bottlenecks. For the Subarnarekha port project, the state government has already handed over 692 acre out of the total required 965 acre to the port developers, while steps are being taken by the Balasore administration to acquire the remaining land. The process of land acquisition for the port project at Astaranga is mired in legal battles. Land acquisition for the two port projects and other infrastructure like road and railway lines has been major hurdle.
