With intake wells completed, around 60 per cent work on the new project at Opa Water Works has been done. The Rs.290 billion project is being constructed specially to boost water supply to Panaji. It is aimed at enhancing water supply to the state capital by 40 million litres per day (MLD) in addition to the existing 80 MLD. Bagkiya Construction from South India, which has been assigned the work, completed the intake wells. The wells collect water from the river which will then be pumped to the treatment plant.
