New growth opportunities in green buildings and sustainable built environment

Mumbai – known to be the ‘Green buildings capital of India’ will host the 14th edition of IGBC’s Green Building Congress 2016 from October 5-8, 2016. The event will help stakeholders of the construction industry, learn, share and explore new growth opportunities in green buildings and sustainable built environment as it will have over 150 innovative and futuristic green products and  technologies on display. Helping India to further consolidate its leadership position in the global green buildings map, the four-day event will focus on  cities, residential, existing buildings, residential societies, affordable housing and schools.

In view of this, Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman, IGBC, highlights that with several states offering incentives to green building projects, IGBC’s green building rating system has emerged as a national rating. Today, IGBC rating system has become national by choice and global in performance, and is evoking excellent response from the stakeholders. In days to come, IGBC will play a more important role in building a greener and healthier India, added Dr Jain.

Further adding, V Suresh, Chair, IGBC Policy & Advocacy Committee, says that excellent support from both the Central and state government is going a long way in further accelerating the green building movement in the country. He shares that Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD) in a recent notification has informed that its departments will adopt IGBC green building rating system. This augurs well to the green building movement.

And, Gurmit Singh Arora, Co-chair, IGBC Mumbai Chapter, underlines that the state of Maharashtra and of Mumbai in particular, has an important role in accelerating the adoption and promotion of green buildings and built-environment across the country.  He adds that the need of the hour is to demonstrate the manifold benefits of green buildings to the stakeholders. And, this is what Green Building Congress 2016 aims to achieve.

The event will also present the Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards 2016.
