Chennai to get new Rs.25 bn terminal

With approval for the construction of a Rs 24.67-bn terminal, the Chennai Airport is expected to see its passenger handling capacity going up from 17 mppa to 35 mppa. According to reports, the government has shortlisted L&T as the successful bidder. The aircraft capacity is also expected to go up from the current 36 aircraft an hour to around 42. The total built up area of the proposed terminal building is 3,36,000 sq m. The terminal will reportedly incorporate green building features with an aim to achieve GRIHA-4 Star rating. <br />
