Cut and Bend TMT is a solution to issues in the construction industry, and a quantifiable solution too!

- Vivek Kejriwal, Chairman & Managing Director, Sunvik Steels

Being a primary steel manufacturer, Sunvik Steel has always focused on maintaining quality standards, goodwill and commitment. With this, today the company has become a distinguished player in the industry. It has also introduced READYFIX, a complete end-to-end solution for its customers. Vivek Kejriwal, Chairman & Managing Director, Sunvik Steels, elaborates on this solution along with various other initiatives by the company.

What is the role of state-of-the-art technologies in your manufacturing process?
The entire plant is based on German Technology. We are ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 certified. Also, Sunvik Billets and TMT is BIS approved.

How do you emphasise on quality, safety and environment-friendly measures?
We have internal audits quarterly based on ISO guidelines from an internal auditor and an annual external audit done by a third-party agency. Beyond that, we also have consultants and processes in place to keep a check on quality parameters.

Your product portfolio includes readyfix, fly-ash bricks, sponge iron, billets, power and TMT bars. Highlight their benefits.
It is an integrated process as the primary product is a raw material for the concurrent product to realise, thereby each of them serve a significant role to complete the entire process till TMT is manufactured. Also, we capture the flue gases to produce captive power and the waste fly-ash is converted into bricks and blocks to be utilised for construction purposes. Ready-fix is a forward integration product where TMT is being used to deliver cut and bend steel as per the required BBS without incurring any pilferage and loss in quality.

Sunvik Steels has invested more than Rs 50 crore to set up a wasted heat recovery captive power plant of 10 MW which reduces the green house gas emissions....
Recovery of waste heat from flue gases help us to reduce fuel consumption by half, leading to an average of 6 per cent saving. By doing so, we also keep the environment pollution-free and the biggest advantage is that the plant runs uninterrupted for 24 hours, leading to increase in production-efficiency. Reusing the generated fly-ash to manufacture bricks and blocks enables us to get green credits. Today, we are also a member of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

How do you carry forward CSR activities?
Our focus is to keep the society healthy, and hence health camps are periodically held in the villages surrounding the plant; we also sponsor books and notebooks for the village schools. A community hall is on the anvil at Jodideverahalli.

What were the sales recorded in 2014-15? What are your expectations in 2015-16?
Revenues in the year 2014-15 were at Rs 313 crore; expectation in 2015-16 is approximately Rs 350 crore. We are strategising to expand our market to harness growth of Sunvik TMT.

How do you strategise to stay ahead in the industry?
Sunvik has introduced READYFIX. We have a fully operational state-of-the-art European technology cut and bend plant manufactured by Schnell. Apart from the infrastructure and material availability, we also have a team of experienced engineers in-house, who extract the Bar Bending Schedule from a reinforcement drawing using the latest American tools and software. Apart from precision engineering in design and production, we also have an expert laying team to lay the readymade steel at site. Hence, READYFIX is a complete end-to-end solution for a customer, not just cut and bend steel. We believe this process of cut and bend steel is the future, and READYFIX will soon stabilise like Readymix. Also, Sunvik has a principal approval from the State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) for a Rs 550 crore expansion project.
