The state government, in its Rs 10,053.24 crore budget for the 2013-14 fiscal, levied tax on non-biodegradable packing material (plastic) at 2 per cent on sales value and green tax on petroleum products at 0.5 per cent. The government also impo-sed infrastructure tax on residential and commercial buildings between Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 per sq m depending upon the area.
