Jharkhand launches Rs 150b housing scheme

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched the 'Abua Awas Yojna' on Independence Day, allocating Rs 150 billion to construct homes for the needy in the next two years. Speaking while hoisting the national flag at the Morabadi Ground, Soren emphasized the government's efforts to strengthen the state and fulfil its commitments.

Soren criticized the central government for lacking necessary drought assistance. He stated that a strong Jharkhand will be built and his government aims for inclusive development, benefiting the poor, labourers, farmers, tribals, and marginalized.

The 'Abua Awas Yojna' aims to offer three-room houses for all within two years, costing Rs 150 billion. Soren emphasized the government's focus on development, involving public participation. He discussed recruitment initiatives, including 38,000 posts, and introduced the Jharkhand Competitive Examination (Measures for Prevention and Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2023, for transparent selection processes.

Soren announced the Mukhya Mantri Sarathi Yojana, providing skill training to youths, and the Mukhyamantri Rozgar Srijan Yojana, offering loans at subsidized rates for self-employment. The state initiated universal pension schemes and distributed pre-matric and post-matric scholarships. Modern hostels with libraries are being constructed for students.

He outlined various schemes benefiting farmers, such as Birsa Sinchai Koop Yojna, and emphasized the commitment to providing clean drinking water to rural families under Jal Jeevan Mission by 2024. Soren discussed industrial initiatives, including the hydrogen engine plant in Jamshedpur and plans to generate 4000 MW of solar power.

The chief minister highlighted efforts to showcase Jharkhand's culture globally and mentioned the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna for road and bridge construction.
