SN Subrahmanyan has been appointed as Deputy Managing Director and President, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), besides being the company´s Whole Time Director. In addition, he heads L&T Construction (erstwhile ECC), is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of and President of L&T Infotech and President-L&T Technology Services. He is also responsible for the Metallurgical & Material Handling (MMH) and Ship Building business verticals. With his elevation to the current role, Subrahmanyan is responsible to guide the fortunes and build L&T, which is already a $15 billion conglomerate. What´s more, he is also CONSTRUCTION WORLD´S MAN OF THE YEAR 2015 and will be awarded at the CW Annual Awards in Mumbai on October 16. Subrahmanyan, over the last 30 years, has played a critical role in driving many of L&T´s prestigious infrastructure and construction projects. He has successfully set-up the RMC business for the first time in India. He has played a crucial role in securing and managing EPC contracts for major international airports in India; and his visionary leadership has also enabled the successful execution of metro rail projects. The latest in his lengthening list of accomplishments is to build the tallest statue in the world - the Statue of Unity - and the development of dedicated freight corridors that will realign the dynamics of freight movement in the country. Beyond the Indian shores, he is largely responsible for establishing L&T Construction as a significant EPC player in the Middle East and has also led the spread into Africa. He brought to the fore the expertise of ´Design and Build´ construction solutions on an EPC basis and is one of the first exponents of aluminum formwork systems and an early adopter of precast technology for housing projects. With several such pioneering initiatives to his credit, all eyes on Subrahmanyan to see how he defines the next growth trajectory for the company.
