The Maharashtra cabinet cleared a proposal to change the British-era names of eight suburban railway stations in Mumbai on the Western, Central and Harbour lines operated by Central and Western Railway. As per the proposal, Currey Road station will be renamed as Lalbaug, Sandhurst Road as Dongri, Marine Lines as Mumbadevi, Charni Road as Girgaon, Cotton Green as Kalachowki, Dockyard Road as Mazgaon and Kings Circle as Tirthankar Parshwanath. Sandhurst Road station is considered as two stations as it serves both Central and Harbour lines.An Advanced Leadership Programme in Infrastructure and Construction (ALPIC), a one-year hybrid programme developed jointly by InCoBAN, a leading Bengaluru-based construction industry improvement ecosystem and the prestigious Singapore Management University’s (SMU) Executive Development is set to commence from June 2024. The one-year-hybrid ALPIC, tailored for infrastructure professionals, is inviting applications across India, Africa, Middle East and SE Asia. ALPIC offers a blend of online and offline sessions of four terms and adopts a hybrid model, featuring a six-day continuous residency programme in Bengaluru.In order to provide more services, Central Railway (CR) has proposed the laying of a new fifth, sixth line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kurla into two phases, estimated to cost around Rs.9.2 billion. The project is aimed at segregating the movement of local trains and mail or express trains. The fifth, sixth line track is currently available between Kalyan and LTT (Kurla) and CR has planned to extend it from Kurla up to CSMT into two phases.
