In a programme dedicated to inaugurate the newly constructed toilet for the third gender in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that the state government will be extending a grant of Rs 1.5 lakh, separate from the grant being given by the Union to transgender persons under the PMAY scheme.
In the address, Chouhan also reportedly announced the creation of a ‘transgender panchayat’ and that transgender persons will be incorporated in various state initiatives such as to spread the message of cleanliness and Beti Bachao Abhiyan.
