West Bengal inaugurates India’s largest convention centre

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has inaugurated India’s largest business convention centre with a seating capacity of nearly 3,200. The Biswa Bangla Convention Centre was completed after three years of construction. The newly inaugurated convention centre will also host the Bengal Global Business Summit in January next year.

The convention centre has 10 meeting rooms within the business centre and 112 twin bedrooms. It will also house two restaurants and a 24-hour coffee shop. Other inclusions are an 8,000-sq ft business club with a gym, billiards room, cards room, spa, salon and a terrace swimming pool. The spa and the salon occupy an area of 7,000 sq ft.

The centre houses four exhibition halls consisting of a state banquet spread across 17,000 sq ft and a large pre-function area of 12,500 sq ft. A garden food court is linked to the exhibition halls and two smaller capacity auditoriums, each with a seating capacity of 434. There are banquet and satellite kitchens at all levels of the centre.

It also has a parking facility for more than 600 cars, 15 buses and 92 open parking spaces. The centre is located in New Town, Kolkata, close to Eco Park and Rabindra Tirtha.
