Anna University and Ramco Systems to Launch Intelligent ERP Lab

Ramco Systems (Ramco) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Anna University, Chennai to establish an Intelligent ERP Lab for the university's Industrial Engineering programme. The agreement creates a structured framework for faculty enablement, industry-oriented training, skill development and provision for research and academic events. The lab is intended to give students hands-on exposure to cloud-based, AI-powered enterprise resource planning platforms and intelligent workflows used in modern manufacturing organisations.

Ramco will provide access to its cloud-based ERP platform under secured login credentials, allowing learners to configure scenario data, adjust process parameters and navigate end-to-end workflows within a controlled academic environment. The facility will be integrated into undergraduate and postgraduate coursework from the upcoming academic year so students can apply classroom theory to practical operations, supply chain and finance scenarios. Faculty members will receive targeted training to embed ERP technology into teaching and supervised research.

The collaboration also includes industry-oriented training sessions totalling around 15 hours each semester to build applied skills relevant to enterprise software systems and digital transformation. The lab will receive ongoing updates as the ERP solution evolves, ensuring exposure to current features and industry practices. The memorandum sets out structured pathways for internships and campus recruitment, creating clearer progression from academic practice to employment. Joint seminars, workshops and consultancy initiatives will be organised to promote applied research and strengthen links between industrial engineering education and real-world practice.

The memorandum was facilitated by the Department of Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering, Guindy and was signed by the registrar in charge of Anna University and the chief financial officer of Ramco Systems in the presence of senior officials from both parties. Anna University indicated that the partnership aligns curriculum design with emerging industry expectations and supports a research-driven ecosystem where faculty and students can engage with real-world workflow scenarios. Ramco said the initiative is aimed at enhancing employability and strengthening collaboration between industry and academia.

The reduction in LNG shipments has constrained feedstock availability and raised operational pressures at ammonia and urea units across the country, complicating production scheduling and maintenance plans. Producers have scaled back output in response to fuel shortages and logistical challenges affecting domestic fertiliser production and have implemented staggered shutdowns to manage inventories. The disruptions have heightened..
