Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday chaired a State-Level Committee meeting to deliberate draft development plans for Naraingarh-2031, Kurukshetra-2041, Narnaul-2041 and Panipat-2041. The plans, prepared by the Department of Town and Country Planning, aim to promote planned land use, orderly urban growth and regulated building development while addressing projected population increases and infrastructure needs. The chief minister directed officers to align all urban development plans with the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047 and to ensure provision of sewage treatment plants, water treatment facilities, power infrastructure and other essential civic amenities to prevent future shortages. Officials said the Naraingarh plan is based on a projected population of 95,000 by 2031 and envisages six residential sectors, taking advantage of National Highway-72 and planned industrial expansion. Saini directed that sufficient distance be maintained between industrial and residential areas to ensure a healthy living environment. While reviewing Kurukshetra he emphasised that the district's religious and cultural significance should remain central to development and asked for conservation in the Jyotisar area, alignment with the Saraswati River, expansion of green spaces and effective flood management. Officials added that the Narnaul draft proposes the development of 20 residential sectors and includes provisions for an Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub and a new bypass. The committee reviewed Panipat's draft plan in view of its growing population and examined proposals for new residential areas on both sides of the existing city, road network expansion, sewage treatment plants, boosting stations and other urban infrastructure. The chief minister asked officers to prepare a plan for industrial zones extending up to one kilometre on either side of the Panipat-Shamli National Highway. He instructed that final drafts ensure balanced development of residential, industrial, transport and green zones with environmental safeguards.
