Hindustan Zinc Builds Young Leadership Pipeline

Hindustan Zinc is strengthening its next-generation leadership pipeline, with 10% of the company’s leaders now under the age of 35.

The company said more than 62% of its workforce is under 35, while its gender diversity ratio stands at 26.3%. Young professionals are taking on roles across mining, manufacturing, technology, sustainability and business leadership.

Over the past two fiscal years, Hindustan Zinc has hired nearly 700 young professionals. This includes 335 campus recruits in FY26 through its VLDP, GET, PGET and MT programmes from leading institutions across India.

Amarendu Prakash, CEO, Hindustan Zinc, said the future of industry will increasingly be shaped by professionals who view technology and sustainability as central to business growth. He added that the company aims to give young employees meaningful responsibilities, opportunities to innovate and exposure to large-scale industrial operations.

Young employees are contributing across Hindustan Zinc’s technology-enabled operations, including remote blasting, tele-remote equipment handling, real-time monitoring systems, operational intelligence platforms, automated processes and digital control rooms.

The company is also focusing on creating a more inclusive workplace through flexible work hours, night-shift opportunities and policies covering spouse hiring, childcare sabbaticals and employee wellbeing.

Hindustan Zinc also enables talent mobility across business functions and runs multiple skilling, upskilling and reskilling programmes. These include classroom learning, mentoring, training by global experts and practical and technical development programmes.

The company said its focus on young and diverse talent is aimed at building a future-ready workforce capable of supporting emerging areas such as renewable energy, digital mining and circular economy practices.
