Hindustan Zinc Says 10% of Leaders Are Under 35

Hindustan Zinc is seeing a growing number of young professionals move into decision-making roles, with 10% of its leaders now under the age of 35. The company highlighted the trend as part of International Youth Day 2026.

More than 62% of Hindustan Zinc's workforce is under 35, while its gender diversity ratio stands at 26.3%. Young employees are taking on responsibilities across mining, manufacturing, technology, sustainability and business leadership.

The company hired nearly 700 young professionals over the last two financial years, including 335 campus recruits in FY26 through its VLDP, GET, PGET and MT programmes. Hindustan Zinc refers to this emerging talent pool as its #EchoesOfTomorrow.

Amarendu Prakash, CEO, Hindustan Zinc, said the future of industry will increasingly be shaped by professionals who view technology and sustainability as fundamental to business growth. He added that the company aims to provide young employees with meaningful responsibilities and opportunities to innovate and contribute to India's industrial growth.

Gen Z and millennial employees are involved in technology-led operations including remote blasting, tele-remote equipment handling, real-time monitoring systems, operational intelligence platforms, automated processes and digital control rooms.

Hindustan Zinc has also introduced workplace initiatives covering flexible working hours, spouse hiring, year-long childcare sabbaticals and leave policies focused on mental and physical health. The company provides opportunities for employees to move across business functions based on their interests and capabilities.

Its skilling and reskilling initiatives include classroom learning, mentoring, training by global experts, behavioural development programmes and technical training aimed at preparing employees for changing industrial requirements.

The company is also positioning core industries as career destinations for younger professionals, with opportunities spanning renewable energy, digital mining and circular economy practices.

Through its #EchoesOfTomorrow initiative, Hindustan Zinc aims to build a younger, more diverse and technology-focused workforce capable of supporting the company's future growth and India's broader industrial development.
