Jharkhand CM Invites Spanish Firms to Explore Investment Opportunities

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, on an official visit to Spain and Sweden, invited Spanish businesses and industries to invest in Jharkhand. During the visit, the Government of Jharkhand received a proposal from RCD Espanyol Football Club to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the training of football coaches, aiming to boost sports development in the state.

A high-level delegation led by the Chief Minister interacted with Indian-origin business leaders and experts across sectors such as clean energy, supply chain, environmental sustainability, biopharmaceuticals, and MedTech. Discussions centred on strategies to foster entrepreneurship and innovation in Jharkhand, with attendees expressing interest in supporting the state's startup ecosystem.

In a key meeting, Tesla Group A.S. Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Dušan Lichardus proposed setting up a GIGA Factory in Jharkhand for assembling commercial and industrial battery storage products, following a similar project in Romania.

The delegation also explored opportunities in value-added food processing, traditional medicine, and licensing innovations in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Strengthening Jharkhand’s brand among Spanish companies through sustained promotional efforts was emphasised.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren reaffirmed the Government's commitment to Ease of Doing Business reforms and assured regular engagement with Spanish companies to encourage investment and collaboration.
