Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Limited (KMEW) has secured a repeat work order from Paradip Port Authority (PPA) for the hiring of one 25-Knot Speed Patrol-Cum-Chase Boat with manning crew under a five-year contract valued at Rs 11,41,01,079 including GST, equivalent to Rs 114.10 mn. The award formalises responsibilities for deployment and operation and requires KMEW to maintain operational readiness. The contract will support round-the-clock maritime response within port limits and crew rotation arrangements timelines. The Speed Patrol-Cum-Chase Boat will augment PPA capability to comply with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code and to undertake interception, deterrence and other critical marine operations. Built for all weather operation, the vessel will provide rapid response to unauthorised craft and security threats inside port limits. Deployment is intended to enhance surveillance, enforcement and operational resilience while PPA retains oversight and KMEW supplies a professional manned service and emergency medical support capability. KMEW will build the craft in-house and will draw on Knowledge Shipyard Private Limited (KSPL) and an upcoming shipyard at Saphale, Maharashtra, to meet delivery schedules and quality standards. The integrated build and support model is intended to give the group greater control over design, construction and lifecycle support. The plan reflects expanding shipbuilding and marine services capabilities and underscores the company’s focus on specialised maritime asset provision and lifecycle management and supplier oversight measures. The repeat order highlights ongoing demand for specialised maritime assets that strengthen port preparedness and rapid response across Indian ports. KMEW views the contract as reinforcing its position across dredging, vessel operations, shipbuilding and marine services and as supporting national port security objectives. The award is expected to contribute to operational revenues and to consolidate relationships with domestic port authorities. The company will proceed with construction and deployment within stipulated timelines and ongoing technical support.
