L&T Signs MoU with TuTr Hyperloop for Mobility Infrastructure

Larsen & Toubro has signed a memorandum of understanding with TuTr Hyperloop, an IIT Madras-incubated deep-tech mobility start-up, to explore the development and deployment of next-generation mobility technologies and infrastructure in India. The agreement provides a framework for collaboration, with specific projects to be pursued through separate agreements.

The partnership combines Larsen & Toubro’s engineering, procurement and construction expertise with TuTr Hyperloop’s capabilities in indigenous electromagnetic propulsion and advanced mobility systems. The organisations will assess opportunities involving Linear Induction Motor-based propulsion systems, vacuum tube infrastructure, pressure management systems, civil and structural works, electrical infrastructure, signalling, telecommunications and systems integration.

Responsibilities may span technology development, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, installation and testing, depending on the requirements of individual projects. The two organisations will also engage prospective customers to assess technical feasibility, commercial viability and implementation needs for potential applications.

The collaboration will examine opportunities in freight and logistics, port connectivity, industrial transportation and other emerging mobility segments. TuTr Hyperloop’s broader technology portfolio includes Linear Induction Motor propulsion, magnetic levitation and vacuum-based transportation systems, with a focus on modular solutions that can progress from research and development to practical deployment.

The companies said the agreement would bring together indigenous deep-tech innovation and large-scale infrastructure execution capabilities. They will identify suitable opportunities and develop project-specific solutions that combine mobility technology with engineering, infrastructure and systems integration expertise. The collaboration is also intended to support the development of future-ready transportation systems in India and improve the prospects for commercialising advanced mobility technologies.
